A portion of the animals that came through the exotic animal auction. There were some beautiful animals, including a rare Bongo…the big brown one with white stripes on his back. There were also grants zebras, grevy zebras, blackbuck, wildebeest, axis deer and kudu to name a few.

For some of them, their native environments don’t exist anymore. Animals such as the Egyptian Oryx and the Addax are considered extinct in the wild. There are more Oryx and Addax on private ranches in Texas than anywhere else in the world, this is one of the reasons the species is not extinct all together. The breeding programs that these ranches have established help ensure good bloodlines for future generations.
