Those rat cages are 2 small! If you are going to even consider getting a rat (preferably 2 or more…they need eachothers company…and there is nothing like having someone to snuggle with at night.) please buy or make a very roomy cage with many different floors and activites for them to do in the cage….it doesn’t matter if they spend time outside of the cage and being social with you….they need space to run around…it’s a home…a cage big enough so they can have space to themeslves.

@Darkmausi – First of all you are correct, rats are social animals and need a friend but your other two statements are wrong. Rats can be bathed. It doesn’t harm them at all. Rats can be taken outside as long as it’s warm but not hot or cold and you have a way to insure it will not run off.

See now I dont know much about rats, Im trying to do research because in a couple weeks when my friends rats are old enough im going to be taking 2 males from him and Im super excited. So now im tring to do research on the care of these beautiful creatures but I feel like Im being misinformed. Please someone help me. First, rats are very social. They NEED the companionship of another rat.
Second, those first two cages are not suitable for rats.
Third, that last cage would be very crowded with two rats. I cannot even imagine housing three or more in it. That’s like four people living in a bathroom.
That ‘multi-level’ only has one tiny shelf. I don’t even consider it a two-level cage.
Do more research before you buy a rat, please. These videos are misinforming.
