Thanks Manjulaji. This salad is a must in all South Indian functions. Our way of doing is – we will not stir fry the dal. Soaked dal is mixed either with shredded carrot or finely chopped cucumber. Mix it with grated coconut, chopped cilantro, green chillies, lemon juice and salt. seasoning – oil, mustard seeds and asfoetida and pour over the salad and mix it. The practice is we add salt just before serving to avoid release of water from the salad. Fresh pomagranate seeds can also be added.
