In many circuses, wild and exotic animals are trained through the use of intimidation and physical abuse. Former circus employees have reported seeing animals beaten, whipped, poked with sharp objects and even burned to force them to learn their routines!
Elephants who perform in circuses are often kept in chains for as long as 23 hours a day from the time they are babies.
More than 15 million warm-blooded animals are used in research every year.
Scientists estimate that 100 species go extinct every day! That’s about one species every 15 minutes.
If you live in Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Rhode Island, Illinois, Virginia, Oregon, New York, New Jersey and Vermont you have the legal right to refuse to participate in dissection in class! In Louisiana, there is a State resolution and in Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland and New Mexico, there are Departments of Education resolutions in place that allow you to refuse to dissect, although it hasnt yet become a law.

“Animal Connection”, the show, brings awareness of how extremely connected all living things (animals / wildlife and humans) inhabiting the earth really are. As our human population grows and our footprint enlarges, the often delicate balances along the boundaries change. Our show will reveal these shifting links between humans, animals / wildlife; we will see through the eyes of the species whose lives are interwoven, either by design or circumstance.
Our show will take viewers on a journey. We will go behind the scenes of animal organizations like animal shelters, zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, animal and wildlife training centers, wildlife preserves, and more, all across the country. We will get an insider’s view into what it takes to keep an animal shelter running or how animals caught between wildlife and domestication are trained and fully integrated into captivity or released back into the wild.
We will also closely examine the connections that have developed with domesticated animals that live and work alongside humans. Additionally, we will look at the complex relationships that evolve in circumstances that bring people and animals / wildlife together by accident. Whether we are in the rainforest or in an inner city dog pound, we have connections with the animal and wildlife world that are fascinating, evolving, and critical to our survival.
Of course the Animal Connection will be fun and entertaining as well. Many celebrities and professional athletes are animal lovers and lend their names to animal and wildlife causes. The animal rights group PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) goes undercover at an Animal Sanctuary known as GW Exotic who apparently love and care for their animals very much???
There are many terrific animal sanctuaries that don’t at all treat their animals in disgusting and apathetic ways such as the ones depicted in this video.
One such sanctuary; is the wonderful Big Cat Rescue who don’t abuse or exploit their cats and focus on legitimacy educating people about their plight and how we can help save and conserve them.
Sanctuaries like Big Cat Rescue are the ones to get behind and support and not ones like these.
If you ever see deplorable conditions and treatment of animals at animal sanctuaries or parks, please report it to your local animal rights group or Humane Society and help expose these people and stop their careless treatment of animals that give the legitimate animal parks a bad name.
